By using Ecodan as part of a hybrid system, all the benefits of lower running costs from the heat pump can be taken advantage of for the vast majority of the year, and when the outdoor conditions fall below a point where the heat pump is no longer able to provide the energy to heat the home, the system will switch over to the traditional boiler. By working in this way the initial investment can be kept low, whilst still delivering a significant contribution to run cost savings.
This application enables the use of an air source heat pump in properties where a stand alone heat pump is not suitable, this may be for a variety of reasons, including thermally inefficient buildings and for buildings with traditionally sized radiators.
Air source heat pump and traditional boiler in a hybrid configuration.
Reduced installation costs when used with an existing boiler.
Hybrid control built into heat pump controller.
Increased design flexibility
Heat pump may be used with a gas, oil or electric boiler
